$443,000 SACOG Grant Application for a New Streetscape on Franklin Boulevard
In the summer of 2015, Marti prepared a SACOG grant application on behalf of the City of Sacramento to consider reducing Franklin Boulevard from four lanes (with a 'suicide lane') to two lanes, as well as including bifurcated bicycle lanes, more crosswalks, landscaped medians and sidewalks, and striped on street parking.

The Result:
In December 2015, the SACOG Board of Directors approved a $443,000 grant to conduct a feasibility study, public outreach and complete preliminary engineering and design drawings for a new streetscape on Franklin Boulevard. In addition, Councilmember Jay Schenirer championed an additional $250,000 in Community Development Block Grant funds, as well as $150,000 in "Local Transportation" funds increasing the total project budget to $843,000. The project will begin in the fall of 2016.
