Rebranding "North Franklin District" to "The Historic Monterey Trail District"
Based on historical research conducted by Marti and a research intern, the Association discovered that Franklin Boulevard was once the Monterey Trail between Sutter's Fort (Sacramento) and Monterey, California during Alta California, Mexico (1821-1847).

The Result:

Senator Richard Pan, Assemblymember Jim Cooper, Sacramento County Supervisors Phil Serna and Patrick Kennedy and Sacramento Councilmember Jay Schenirer all passed Senate, Assembly, County and City resolutions recognizing Franklin Boulevard as "The Hisotric Monterey Trail." The business association installed new district street banners, launched a new website and started comprehensive social media efforts to attract more shoppers to the business district.
